What you get
A real network, not a shared VLAN.
Isolation
Yours alone
Each network belongs to you only. Two customers can pick the same range: their networks never see each other.
Addressing
Your own range
Any private IPv4 range from /16 to /29. The first address is the gateway; machines get the next ones, in order.
No restart
Connect a running machine
Connect a machine that is already running: its private address is set up for you, on Linux, Windows and FreeBSD.
Private only
Machines with no public address
A database can live on the private network alone and reach the Internet through the network's gateway for updates.
Bandwidth
Not counted
Traffic between your machines stays off the meter. Only what goes to the Internet counts.
Building block
Firewalls and load balancers
Firewalls never filter the private network, and load balancers reach their targets through it.
In practice
A network, then a machine in it.
Create the network in the console or with one API call, then order machines straight into it or connect the ones you already run. Everything the console does, the API and the MCP server do too.
